For Dissident II, we collaborated with powerhouse athletes, Loïc Bruni and Finn Iles, to design a helmet that would meet the highest demands of downhill mountain bike racing, in terms of confidence, a modern-styled fit, and breathability.With five strategically placed EPS foam inserts, we’re able to tune for higher and lower density foam based on where it is being configured inside the helmet—allowing us to maintain a light weight and still manage energy. The use of a softer foam density allows more energy to be absorbed in an impact, transferring less to the rider. Dissident II also provides added confidence through its Mips Evolve Solution—that helps to redirect rotational movement away from the head. In this Evolve Solution, we utilized fabric pocket attachments inside, reducing creakiness.Remaining cool is more than a state of mind, and it’s hard to keep your composure when things get hot—specially when your head feels like its in a sauna. Helmets have long been plagued by an unspoken rule: Light weight, ventilation, aerodynamics—pick two, there's your helmet. As you can tell by now, though, we don't play by these rules—or really any for that matter. We'd rather turn standards on their head and create products that nobody ever dreamed of. And you needn't look any further than the new S-Works Evade helmet for proof of this. Straight up, it's the fastest road helmet out there. We've teamed up with MIPS researchers to introduce MIPS SL—a new, ultra-light, and supremely comfortable version of MIPS that's available exclusively on Specialized helmets. With MIPS SL, we've essentially integrated MIPS technology within the helmet padding itself.
